For the upcoming school year, Henrico County Public Schools will implement a staggered start schedule for all incoming preschool and kindergarten students. The staggered start does not apply to grades 1-5. All students in grades 1-5 have their first day of school on August 24th and attend every single day. The following is our schedule:
Please be reminded that we will have a staggered start for Pre-K and Kindergarten with roughly half attending on Monday but not Tuesday, the other half attending on Tuesday but not Monday and the whole school all together on Wednesday.
Monday, August 24: First Day of School for PK/KG students with last names that start with A-M.
Tuesday, August 25: First Day of School for PK/KG students with last names that start with N-Z.
Wednesday, August 26: All PK/KG students attend
Grades 1-5 attend school every day starting on August 24th
This staggered schedule allows our youngest Springers to experience a calmer, more personalized transition into school while giving teachers additional time to build relationships and establish classroom routines.
If you have questions about this county-wide initiative, please email me, your Principal, Mrs. Cromartie, ejcromartie@henrico.k12.va.us
Continue to enjoy your summer!

Henrico County Public Schools puts the safety of its students and staff first. Even with multifaceted safety places in place, the school division continuously explores new resources, technologies and best practices to support and maintain schools and campuses that are both secure and conducive to learning.
As part of HCPS’ ongoing security efforts, the division is enhancing the student arrival process to include weapon scanners at school campuses K-12. The scanners are similar to the ones you may see at an amusement park, concert, or large sporting event.
Understandably, students, employees and families may have questions about how the scanners work and why they are being added to safety plans now. Unfortunately, societal changes, national increases in crime involving youth and escalating student behaviors make school safety more important than ever. The decision to install scanners was made after months of research, field testing different technologies and gathering community input to support our shared goal of maintaining safe and welcoming school environments.
Check out the news bulletin about Heading Back to School Safely for an FAQ on security and weapons scanners.
